Part-time Internship Positions for University students – Open call

The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence (KIOS CoE) (www.kios.ucy.ac.cy/) has launched the “KIOS Internships” initiative, aimed to provide valuable work experience to undergraduate and postgraduate university students.

This Open Call of the KIOS Internships program will give the opportunity to undergraduate and postgraduate students universities in Cyprus or abroad to work at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, which is the largest research center of the University of Cyprus and it currently employs more than 180 researchers.  KIOS CoE focuses on the study of intelligent systems and networks, with applications in critical infrastructure systems.

Duties
Students will work on a specific project with the guidance of an experienced team of KIOS CoE researchers. Their work will be related to one of the following topics:

Programming Developing applications and modules to support industrial and research projects (e.g., algorithm implementation, web applications, mobile apps, GIS tools, embedded systems, drones, game design, MATLAB Toolboxes, IoT etc.)Good knowledge of Python or Java or C/C++ or MATLAB or web frameworks
Development of
communication
and educational

Writing/preparing articles for the KIOS pro-jects or creating multimedia content (e.g., presentations, videos), or preparing educational and training material and demos for students.Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
Excellent Knowledge of Greek and English.
Optional knowledge of tools for multimedia editing, game creation, etc.
Data collection
and processing
Collection of data from various
open sources, statistical data analysis, market and business analysis, preparation of dashboards, preparation of reports and presentations.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Ex-cel.
Excellent knowledge of English.
Optional knowledge of Power BI.
Optional knowledge of tools for
statistical analysis (MATLAB, R, etc.)
Digital innovationSupporting the digital maturity assessment process and evaluation of KIOS partners. Supporting project deliverables, including sustainability studies on “test before invest” actions, production of related training material and drafting related processes and procedures.Business administration studies/ MBA
Excellent knowledge of Greek and English
Optional project management skills

Employment Terms
Students will have the opportunity to be employed for an initial period of 1 month, which can be renewed for a longer period depending on the student’s performance and availability, as well as the needs of each project. The first month of employment will be a trial period. Students will be allocated space to work, and are required to have a physical presence at KIOS CoE during their work hours.

The employment status will be part-time with a maximum working time of 20 hours per week during the academic year and 35 hours per week during the holiday periods, with gross salary 5.93 €/hour. Various contributions (social insurance, etc.) will be deducted from the gross salary, in accordance with the existing legislation.

KIOS CoE accepts applications by undergraduate and postgraduate students of universities in Cyprus or abroad, irrespective of their area of studies.

The applications must include the following items:

  • The latest degree transcript
  • Letter of expression of interest, in which the following topics are covered, if applicable:
    • Reason to apply to KIOS CoE and expectations of the position
    • Previous knowledge of programming languages and specific examples of projects (personal or as part of coursework)
    • Awards and other achievements
    • Other work/volunteering experience/extra-curriculum activities (it does not have to be relevant to the position)
  • The names and contact details of at least two University Professors from whom reference letters will be requested
  • ID or passport copy

Applications will be reviewed beginning of every month, or more frequently, depending on the KIOS CoE needs.
