Objectives

This WP aims to identify the ideal storage solutions that are adequate for the islanded case of Cyprus. Further, the required techno-economic framework for different storage solutions will be developed in order to allow the massive installation of energy storage devices in the Cyprus power system. This WP will deploy two different novel storage solutions that will be able to compensate the intermittent character of renewables for enabling an even higher penetration of renewables without risking the power system integrity. The beneficial effects of adopting the proposed novel storage solutions will be proved through the two demonstration pilot sites, which will pave the way for the massive exploitation of the proposed solutions. This WP supports Specific Objectives 3 and 6 and General Objectives A and B.
